About the role:

The ProDG team develops an advanced suite of tools for debugging games on PlayStation®3 and PlayStation®Vita. The suite consists of three components; Debugger, Target Manager and Microsoft Visual Studio Integration. These core components have been developed to address the unique needs of commercial game developers.

Within this team, the test group provide a service that supports the development process from early design and implementation through to product release and product support. The primary goal is to ensure the quality of ProDG releases.

The role is to be a Senior Software Test Engineer within the ProDG team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop test plans for new features in conjunction with the development team. Developers will have established tests as part of the standard development cycle. However the test group are responsible for the system level testing of new features, to ensure that they work in real world situations.
  • Develop automated, scripted systems to allow as much testing as possible to be carried out without any manual intervention.
  • Work closely with SN Systems Product Managers, to help develop release test plans.
  • Communicate test processes and test plans to appropriate parties.
  • Keep abreast of current developments within software testing and communicate these to the organization.
  • Reading C++ application code to be able to identify why the ProDG component under test is not behaving as expected.

Skills required:

We are seeking someone with the following technical skills and personal attributes:

Essential

  • A deep understanding of software testing techniques and methodology.
  • At least 5 years practical experience in software testing.
  • Strong C++ development skills.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, all of the following:
    • Version control systems.
    • Microsoft Windows as a software development environment.
    • C/C++ development and debugging.

Desirable

  • An understanding of IDEs and Debuggers.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Knowledge of C#.
  • Experience in the game industry would be a definite plus.
  • Experience with:
    • Dynamic “scripting” languages such as Python, Lisp or Ruby.
    • Writing Unit Tests.
    • Continuous Integration systems.

We anticipate that suitable candidates will have several years of proven experience in the above activities, and demonstrate the following personal attributes:
